A Lazy Dog Weekend

Ollie was wondering what Colin and Karen were up to this weekend...

Then he decided to take a nap.

Germany

Colin has spent the last two weeks in Germany taking some technology classes. Last weekend, Colin picked me up from the airport in Munich and we spent the weekend in Garmish. It is a small Bavarian town at the edge of the Alps. We met there for a weekend in the winter, and I wanted to visit again in warmer weather. The weather was indeed warmer than February, but rainy and cool. We were still able to get out and do some fun things, though! Below are some pictures of Bavarian Slap Dancers. Poor kids...I just know their mother's forced them into lessons that they never wanted to take!!

Graduation and another trip to sunny Belgium!

It has been a busy few weeks for me wrapping up the academic year, which strangely begins with our senior graduation. Last week we had the graduation, which is always a lot of preparation for many of us at the school. The Board of Trustees (who live in the US) come to visit during this time, too, which leads to an even more events to attend. Our week was filled with receptions and dinners, not to mention the actual graduation ceremony! Fortunately, we had a four day weekend after graduation day, which was well-deserved!

So, after the graduation, I packed my bags and flew to Belgium for the weekend. The weather was perfect and Colin and I were able to take full advantage of our patio and garden. We also spent a relaxing afternoon sitting in the Mons city square drinking Belgium's finest beer! I'm sure this is a glimpse of how we will be spending our summer months!

Last Thursday

I was pleasantly surprised last Thursday when after school I was invited into our conference room and found 20 of my Bulgarian colleagues there to congratulate me on getting married! They had arranged for the cafeteria to make individual pizzas and we sat around the table eating pizza, drinking wine and enjoying each other's company!
It was a touching gesture that was completely unexpected.

The Perfect Day

Karen and I at the Mill Forge enjoying the 3 minutes of sun we had this day.

One Week Ago Today...

I'm back in Sofia, and looking back on my Spring Break, I cannot believe what a person can fit into such a short period of time!

Lu and Kath arrived in Belgium on April 2nd. We celebrated and pampered ourselves for a few days before getting on the road to Gretna Green. I think we were all happy that we pampered ourselves as the roadtrip (both ways) was not as exciting as was originally billed (by me). But, Lu and Kath being the extraordinary friends they are, accepted their travel accommodations with a smile and no complaint. Our trip home from Gretna was long, with traffic jams that slowed us down. The Jeep also was acting up, which caused some stress. We all appreciated Colin's patience as our 8 and 1/2 hour-long trip turned into 17 hours!!

On April 6th, Colin and I met up with our parents and my sister Shelley who arrived into Scotland before us. My parents and sister travelled for a few days prior to arriving at Gretna Green, while Colin's parents landed in Glasgow and then took a train directly into Gretna Green. It was wonderful meeting Colin's parents for the first time and catching up with my family. We were able to spend some quality time together over three days and see some of the sites at Gretna Green.

On April 8th, Colin and I got married. The day is all a bit of a blur, but we enjoyed every minute and especially were happy to celebrate our marriage with our closest family and friends. We look forward to receptions that will be held in the US and Canada in late summer to celebrate with even more of you!

On Sunday, April 12th, I sadly said goodbye to Colin at the Brussels airport. I am back to work and Spring Break is a distant memory, but one that I'll cherish in the years to come!

The countdown to Spring Break!!

I have two final countdowns: one until the wedding -less than two weeks away, and one until Colin and I will be living under the same roof -about three months from now. I can add one more countdown to my list: how many more school days before spring break...and the answer is: 3!! On Tuesday, March 31st I will leave Bulgaria one more time to fly to Belgium!!
