Pictures of our yard

This post is for you Mom. These are pictures of our yard taken about one month ago. You can see the tall trees that surround the side and back yard.

This is the front of the house:

The roses bloom all summer long.
We just planted these pots.

Our deck. All the other pictures are the view from the deck.

These white flowers are fragrant gardenias. They have finished blooming, but the air was filled with sweetness for a few weeks.

Colin plans to plant a vegetable garden by the distant trees next year.
Colin has big plans for this space. This is directly across from the deck. The hydrangeas were damaged a little by frost, but they have begun to bloom. We get cardinals, woodpeckers, blue birds, yellow finches, mockingbirds, robins, rabbits and squirrels in the yard. We have also had deer wander through a few times. So far I have not seen any snakes...but I know they are out there...

This is the play fort. We have started to put the mulch in, but are not finished with that project. The kids like to play out there, especially in the sand. The building behind it is our neighbors garage. We will be planting a privacy tree hedge in the fall. But our neighbor may want to build a fence before then!
This is a recent picture of the deck. We have had lots of rain and heat. Look how the pots have grown!
After Easter, Finn and Lilly planted a few tomato and cucumber seeds. We didn't expect them to do much, but they are HUGE! They will probably produce while we are in Canada, but it has been fun to watch them grow!

I know, I know It's been a while...

My apologies to those of you who have missed seeing pictures of the kids. It is not that easy being on the computer without one or both of them wanting to be on the computer too! So I had to take a break!

Finn has reached the "terrible twos" and Lilly isn't too far behind. They are very busy and active and quite happy most of the time. Lilly has a strong personality, which keeps us on our toes as she is up for anything!

Here are pictures of the kids from our recent trip to San Diego:

 Finn at the water park

Finn and Lilly along the shore. Finn loved all the 'pirate ships' that he saw!

San Diego Zoo:
We saw lots of sea turtles and tortoises, but this one they could touch!

 Stretching to see something!

Lilly hot and sleepy and ready for a nap!

Finn got his face painted with a dragon, while Lilly rested.

Finnian is Two Years Old!

Now my blog posts are going to be a little out of order while I catch you all up to date! This first post is mostly going to be of pictures so that those requesting images of the birthday boy get their wish!

Finn had a special play date/birthday party on Sunday with his friend Weston who is 15 months old. It's fun to see Lilly, Weston and Finn all together since they are only months apart and we can see so many stages all at once! We also had some other friends over for dinner on Sunday and enjoyed a hardy Mediterranean feast (thanks Colin!)

On Finn's actual birthday, we had dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings (One of Finn's favorite foods is chicken and one of Colin's favorite things to do is play trivia at Buffalo Wild Wings...fun for everyone!) and then came home for another cupcake and presents!

The morning following Finn's birthday he woke up and went straight to he seat at the table, climbed up and looked at all of his gifts again (including articles of clothing and cards) almost as if he couldn't believe the party actually happened!

On Saturday we will visit the zoo, which will be a whole other post, I'm sure!

Here are some pictures from both parties:

The Birthday Feast!

All decorated and ready for a party!

A special gift from Weston that Finn absolutely loves.  His imagination is really starting to develop!

Lilly taking her brother out for a drive in the backyard. Finn looks a little concerned here, but not Lilly!

Our happy 2 year old!

Opening his first gift!

Really checking out the details of his new bunny-hug!

Listening to Daddy as the card is read to him

Unwrapping another gift, will the inside be as exciting as the Cars-themed wrapping paper?

Ah! Lilly knew just what to get him...PUZZLES!

Taking a break from opening gifts to play

He loves his letters also known as PUY's around here!

Hmm, what could be inside here?

Yay! A video!

And books!

And another book!
